BROWNESS Villa Interior
ITALY 2025 sqm 160 m²

Architect & Visualizations: Mariette Laan

This interior project is conceived as a continuous, open-plan living environment where architecture, furniture, and materials are integrated into a unified spatial composition. The layout connects the living area, dining space, kitchen, circulation, and study zones through clear visual axes and consistent material language, allowing light and movement to flow uninterrupted throughout the interior.
The color palette is based on neutral tones, soft whites, warm greys, and deep browns, balanced with natural wood finishes and dark stone elements. These colors transition gradually from one space to another, creating cohesion while subtly defining each function. Darker elements such as stone platforms, stair treads, and selected furniture pieces ground the space, while lighter surfaces enhance brightness and depth.
Materials are used with restraint and precision. Wood paneling and cabinetry introduce warmth and vertical rhythm, while stone surfaces add texture and weight. Glass elements, balustrades, tables, and partitions, maintain transparency and visual continuity. Textiles in muted greys and off-whites soften the interiors and contribute to a balanced contrast with harder surfaces.
Lighting is layered and integrated into the architecture, combining recessed ceiling lights, linear fixtures, and suspended luminaires. This approach emphasizes volumes, highlights material transitions, and supports the overall spatial hierarchy without dominating the composition.
Custom-built furniture, shelving, and partitions are aligned with the architectural grid, reinforcing order and proportion. Decorative elements and artwork are limited and carefully placed, acting as focal points without interrupting the overall calm and cohesive atmosphere.
Overall, the project presents an interior where color, material, and form merge seamlessly, resulting in a clear, structured, and harmonious living environment defined by continuity, balance, and material clarity.
